    Description

Clever tool that keeps the piston stationary in your brake distribution block. It is as simple as centering the piston and screwing in this tool, of course your have to catch the groove in the piston. Leave in until brakes are completely bled and functioning. Remove and install your brake warning light switch.

I worked closely with Daryl at WCCC to rehabilitate my ceased proportioning valve on my 1968 Mustang (Shelby clone). After completing the rebuild on it and the distribution block as instructed I purchased this tool to hold the distribution block piston in place while I bled the brakes in order to prevent the piston from sealing off the back brakes. I didn't even know that would have been a problem before talking with Daryl. I know this little tool saved me a lot of head scratching and extra consternation while trying to figure out why my rear brakes would not have been working again and this time due to the piston sealing the fluid flow off to them. Contrary to another review, you do have to center the valley on the piston of the distribution block under the tool before installing it. Just use a strong flashlight and perhaps some magnified glasses to see that the piston is in the correct position. Thanks for all your help Daryl! My Shelby clone is back on the road just in time for the driving season! Heading to the Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA in June.

    Pros:
    • idea is good.
    Cons:
    • Could been made better
    • Treads were bad. Low quality control?
This is just a bolt where the outer 5 mm or so has been turned down to fit the hole in the distribution block. Clever idea, but I can't say this made me happy when I was going to use it for the first time today. I tried to make it fit in the distribution block, but there was no way I could make it enter. After trying a number of times I gave up and tried it on a differnent distribution block that I had for spare, but with same result. A close inspection showed that the first tread on the tool was damaged and at least I was lucky that it did not enter, otherwise it would probably have ruined the treads in the brass block. I found my tread tool kit and freshened up the treads and it worked like it should.
Another detail I would have done different is the length of the tool. It is too long and that makes it harder to use.
