Reproduction Eliminator * Cobra Jet * Cyclone Hood Scoop 1969 1970 Mercury Cougar

New product that is as concours correct as you can get for a reproduction. Very high quality reproduction, that is well worth the cost. This scoop has a smooth texture on the underside, along with the ribbing, like the originals. Unlike our other Eliminator hood scoop, this one has the reinforcing ribs on the underside, like the original scoop. Those of you with functional ram air, know that the bottom side of this scoop is visible with the hood opened. Correct stud configuration, size and weight. This scoop was made by using an original Eliminator scoop to make the mold. BOSS 302, 351w, 351c, 390 and 428 Eliminator Cougars all used the same scoop whether they were equipped with Ram Air or not.

Replaces Ford part # C9WY-16C630-B. Other numbers found on the underside C9GB-160664-B, C9WY-160664-B, C9GB-16056-B, and C9WY-16056-B.

The finish on the under side was very rough although the outer surface was good. Iwill leave the painting to a professional but don't see it as anything they can't handle. The stud positions in the scoop fit exactly to factory points in the hood on my 70 XR7. Good product.

    Top quality part

    Correctness:
This part is not being fitted to a Cougar so I cannot comment on fit and correctness.

The quality of the piece is top class. Nice finish which will only require minor prep before paint. The fixtures are solid and the overall look is quality.

Well worth spending the little extra money for this piece.

BEST ON SCOOP ON THE MARKET!!!

    Rating:
    Ok guys, this is incredible!

The scoop is high quality, heavy grade material. If you have seen an original scoop, you have seen this one! This has the original webbing and several times over the strength of the fiberglass scoop. Even has the original numbers on it!

I bought my 69 Cougar from my father in law. His brother owns a hotrod shop and convinced me to put a hood scoop on the car explaining that he felt it would add about $1000 to the value of the car. I don't know about all of that, but I do know this, by the time I paid for the parts and labor, I had about $600 in this scoop to add $400 to the value of the car. I am still not so sure about it adding to the value, but I had to take the word of a guy that knows his hotrods. Problem is, I am dealing with a cool muscle car, and not so much a 'hotrod'.

WCC was out of scoops at the time, and he needed it asap to get it on the car because he was working this project in for me. I had purchased everything from WCC except for this scoop and a front spoiler. I will be doing a review on the spoiler I had to buy replace also.

The scoop used was about $200 with shipping from Mustangsunlimited. When their product arrived, I was a little concerned that the fittings were in the fiberglass because it felt a little brittle. My uncle (in law), prepared the scoop, did a perfect paint job, and then attached it to the hood. The screws popped right out of the scoop without hardly any pressure at all when he tried to tighten it down on the hood. He said it was like the fiberglass was not prepared correctly.

He re-fiberglassed them in and tightened it down. The fiberglass on the scoop started cracking. I wish he had just called and told me at that point, but instead he prepped it again, painted it and installed it. So, after hundreds of bucks on an item I decided I really didn't want in the first place, it was on. They shipped the car to me, we backed it off and in shipping, just from the bumps on the highway, the back screws broke off again and the paint was cracked on the scoop.

I called Don and explained what had happened and he had just seen this product!

When the first one came in, he shipped it out to me.

This looks identical to an original scoop! The only difference I saw was that the original has two holes on the front. I may be wrong but I believe that one was for the Cougar and one for another car. are there for fitting to another car. The scoops right after from the factory had three. This one has one with the fitting in it for the Cougar, and where the second hole was, it is filled in.

This is perfect in every way. It is heavy, and extremely durable. The fittings are in the scoop and there is no way you will break these babies off like they did in the old fiberglass one. It is a perfect fit for the hood in every way.

Trust me, it is worth buying this one and leaving your worries about spending more money later in the past. With the old fiberglass, I was afraid that if a pecan fell out of my tree, it would crack the finish and scoop. No joke! It was that brittle.

Please, Please, Please, spend the extra cash and save yourself a headache down the road and the old one needs to be repaired! I spent around $600 (including scoop). to have this installed, and still had to have it replaced. Now we're looking at a little over $500 (including the scoop) to have this one installed and it is 10x's the product the other one was.

Well worth the money and peace of mind now that I know I have a high quality product on old Rowdy!
