Hood Scoop

Correct stud configuration, size, and weight. This scoop was made by using an original 1972 Cougar GT scoop to make the mold. 1971-73 Cougar GT's, and the J code 429CJ with ram air, all used the same scoop. The dimensions are just like the original and measure 19-1/4" at the widest point on the front, 24-1/8" at the widest point at the rear, and 25-1/2" tall when stood on end and measured at its longest point. Non functional scoop originally used on the 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7-G but will work on any 67 - 68 Mercury Cougar. Exact replacement inside door handle nut, trunk lock nut, and hood scoop nut. Same finish as originals. 10 of these are used to mount the 68-71 hood scoop found on the 68 428 CJ, 69-70 Eliminator, 69-70 428 Ram Air equipped Cougars and 71 GT and 429CJ. Two of these per door are used on the 69-70 inside door release. Two of of these nuts used to attach 1967-68 Cougar trunk locks.

This RAM AIR hood scoop template was created by placing a piece of butcher paper under an original 1969 428 Cobra Jet RAM AIR hood scoop and applying spray paint to the mounting holes and opening. Contrary to what you may have been told, the opening is not supposed to be round, and yes those protrusions you see are in fact correct. The 1969 uses a slightly different cut out than the 1970.

This original Ford service replacement hood scoop is the same as a factory installed scoop except that it does not have the embossements for the hood grille used on the very first Ram Air Cougars (prior to September 1968) and it has extra mounting stud receptacles for use on multiple applications such as the Comet GT and the Mercury Cyclone.
