This is an item that has been sorely needed for Mustangs and Cougars for decades now! The hinges on the original arm tend to get worn out which will cause irregular movement and can eventually burn up your wiper motor or bind up the linkage. If your wipers do not move in tandem, this part is the culprit! To test if your unit is worn grasp the driver side wiper arm and move the arm back and forth gently. If the passenger arm does not react to your every movement this assembly needs to be replaced. It is an easy to replace part in that you can remove the cowl panel behind your hood to access it. From our experience, 9 out of 10 cars need to have this replaced, the exception would be select cars from states that see minimal precipitation.
